Ghee: The Ancient Indian Food Miracle

The Ayurveda Experience January 19, 2016

Ghee, known as the ancient miracle of India for its deliciously sweet flavor and potent healing qualities, is made from butter from which the milk solids and impurities have been removed. Ghee does not contain harmful trans fats or hydrogenated oils which can cause heart disease and other serious health problems. Interestingly, healthy bodies actually produce their own form of ghee, but you can benefit greatly from the consumption of additional ghee. Many people who are lactose or casein intolerant can enjoy ghee for its buttery flavor and amazing health benefits without allergic reactions. The list of health benefits is endless.

Ghee is miraculous for digestion and immunity. It is a rich source of butyric acid, which is beneficial for energy and intestinal wall support. Ghee improves memory and flexibility of the body.  According to Ayurveda, ghee is considered one of the most sattvic foods, which promote balance, peacefulness, spiritual growth, and expansion of consciousness.

100 times washed Ghee is ghee, which has been properly washed 100 times (by purified water) according to Ayurvedic directions. Such ghee is a very highly valued product for its extremely nourishing, moisturizing, and beneficial effects in healing the skin. It keeps skin soft, smooth, and lubricated. It helps against wrinkles, and heals burned skin and also scars. In many cases, ghee can even prevent scarring.
