    Naturally Beautiful, With Ayurveda

The Ayurveda Experience December 19, 2014

By Vedika Global 2-Month Ayurveda Self-Care Course Graduate Kate Aughenbaugh

I have always wanted to get off of my chemical beauty products and although I’ve tried in the past, I was never successful until I came to Vedika Global.

During the Two-Month Ayurveda Health Immersion Course, we had beauty demos in which we were shown how to use easily available products from the kitchen to treat common beauty issues and maintain wellness.

The simple teaching of only putting what you would ingest through your mouth onto your skin guided me in my move away from my chemical products.

I’ve been reliant on an expensive french skincare line for years now. It was the only thing that would really clear up my skin and keep it that way. Every time I had to purchase more, I would cringe at the price and the chemicals that I couldn’t pronounce.

Whenever I tried to stop using it, my face would turn into a war zone of acne, dark circles, and dull skin. So, I kept on buying it.

At Vedika, I learned about inexpensive and benign products that I could use to treat my skin that included:

    ● Rose and milk face wash. I mix a dash of rose water with organic whole milk for a simple cleanser that leaves my skin smooth and happy.

    ● Mung bean scrub. Yup, I just grind up some beloved mung beans and rub them on my face and body!

    ● Coconut oil moisturizer. Coconut oil is good in the summer because it’s cooling. I have a tendency towards dry skin, so I use this twice a day on my face.

    ● Honey mask. This is one of my favorites. I slather honey on my face, leave it on for 30 min, and rinse with water. My skin has never felt smoother and honey is known to clear up acne.

Simple, right!? There is a slight catch. What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your skin. I noticed that if I would eat a big unhealthy meal, it would be reflected in my skin later.

Now, I combine my skincare regimen with nutritious and seasonally appropriate meals, something else I learned about at Vedika during our cooking demos.

Combining healthy meals with chemical-free products has drastically improved my skin. I feel like I have a natural glow these days, rather than a chemical mask covering up my imbalances.

I’m happy to report that I’ve been able to box up all of my chemical products and I haven’t touched them since I stored them in the basement during the course.
